There are two components to this project:

2. PROJECT DETAIL: Refurbishment to existing power station and enabling works for installation of the a generator set.

BUDGET: SBD $2m

STATUS: Tender Evaluations completed awaiting contract formalisation.

 The Munda project is aimed at providing a back-up supply for Munda in the event the underground cable link from Noro is faulty. Munda is now experiencing difficulties because of issues with the underground cables from Noro.

2. PROJECT DETAIL: Construction of new power station on the western end of existing site at Gizo

BUDGET: SBD $1.4 m

STATUS: Tender Evaluations completed awaiting contract formalisation

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: 3 July 2015 (to be revised based on submission of program of works)

The project comprises building a new power station on the western end of the existing site and installation of new generators. In 2014, SIEA completed new network extension to Titiana, a coastal community along the southern end of the the island. SIEA is working with SPO to also build new fuel storage tanks on the site.

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: 15th October, 2015

This project is for the supply and installation of 3 new 500kW Diesel Power Generators for the Noro Power Station. Demand in Noro has been increasing over the years and the need to upgrade the generation capacity is imminent given the generators at Noro are now very old and are planned to be retired soon. Noro is the main supplier to Munda as well.

 

2. PROJECT DETAIL: Refurbishment to existing power station and enabling works for installation of the 3 new gensets

Inorder for the new generators to be installed, the station itself has to be upgraded to enable the generators to be installed. The project will involve civil works around the station, refurbishment of the building, construction of a new switchgear room and other enabling works to the overall infrastructure for cable laying and generator pads.
