Team Leader, Operator Hybrid Station – Seghe, Mechanical Fitter

To help us achieve our corporate objectives, Solomon Power is installing hybrid generation systems which will generate electricity from solar- battery system with diesel engine as backup when solar and battery systems are not available.

We are therefore looking for two (2) committed, driven and passionate individuals to join our team and be based at our new Seghe Hybrid Station, Marovo – Western Province. Summary of the roles are as follows, with full Role Statements available.

We are looking for committed driven and passionate individuals to join our team in the following roles:

TEAM LEADER HYBRID STATION – Seghe, Marovo-Western Province

Reporting to the Manager Generation, and working closely with General Manager Customer Services’ team, this role supervises & carries out all tasks associated with operating and monitoring; including minor maintenance and upkeep of Hybrid Station plants, equipment and network; and the attendance to customer purchases, payments, enquiries, requests & applications; cash handling.

  • Observe all safety standards and regulations
  • Prompt reporting of any incident
  • EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
  • Trade Certificate Mechanical or Electrical

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three years work experience as a Mechanic or an Electrician and at least one year as a supervisor is required.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Book keeping skills and knowledge
  • Supervisory skills
  • Effective communication skills – both written and oral
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have high interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

OPERATOR, HYBRID STATION – Seghe, Marovo – Western Province

MECHANICAL FITTER, OUTSTATION

Reporting to the Team Leader Mechanical Services, the Mechanical Fitter – Outstation is responsible for carrying out all repairs and maintenance, including major overhauls, on all Solomon Power mechanical plants and equipment. This position is responsible for preparing, planning, organizing, controlling, monitoring and coordinating the complete Outstation maintenance program.

Education requirement:

  • Trade Certificate Mechanical Heavy Plant or equivalent as a minimum.
  • Mechanical Maintenance Diploma or equivalent
  • Marine Engineer Class 3 or equivalent

 

Experience:

  • Minimum experience is at least 3-5 years as a Tradesperson

 

Skills and abilities:

  • Effective communication skills – both written and oral
  • Good report writing skills
  • Computer literate
  • Analytical skills and ability
  • Problem solving
