CHIEF ENGINEER

 

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority trading as Solomon Power invites applications from qualified candidates for its Chief Engineer position.

Solomon Power is a vertically integrated state owned enterprise that owns, maintains and operates the national electricity grid in the Solomon Islands. We’re currently experiencing an exciting time of capital infrastructure development, network expansion and transformational change, undertaking a very ambitious capital works program to build a world-class electricity network model that allows us to better service our customers and future proof Solomon Power’s Network.

The Chief Engineer is primarily responsible for the leadership, effective management and delivery of the Engineering (Generation, Transmission & Distribution, Outstations, Control Centre, and Regulatory) divisional functions, annual plans, budgets, and strategic and operational objectives in relation to Solomon Power’s vision and mission.

The successful applicant must have completed a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business and Management or related field from a recognized institution with at least 5 years’ post qualification experience in a similar role and 10 years’ experience in the field of electrical engineering along with an awareness of industry trends regarding energy generation.

PROCUREMENT OFFICER

 

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority trading as Solomon Power invites applications from qualified individuals for Procurement Officer position.  The position will provide general procurement advice, in accordance with the Financial and Procurement Regulations. Identifies procurement needs of Solomon Power, ensures procurement processes compliance and supervises performance of contractors.

The role reports to the Procurement Manager, Solomon Power. It is a full-time role and the incumbent will ensure:

  • Procurement Operations provided efficiently
  • Well informed management through accurate and timely reporting
  • Department/Division managed effectively
  • Training and supervision of staff ensured
  • A healthy, safe and OHS compliant Solomon Power
  • Environmental protection is prioritized at all times
  • Solomon Powers image and value standards demonstrated at all times

Qualification/Experience: Degree in Finance

  • At least three to Five years of experience in a similar position
  • Computer literate with Microsoft suite
  • Ability to use the IBMS system to investigate any variance and apply corrective action
  • Excellent command of English (written and oral)

PROJECT MANAGER

 

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority trading as Solomon Power invites applications from qualified individuals for our Project Manager role. The Project Manager (PM) is assigned Solomon Power projects at any one time with these projects being managed concurrently and PM is responsible for the operational management of these assigned projects and initiatives where these projects will range from small, medium to large projects with various levels of value, risk and complexity. The role will also be responsible for the delivery of the assigned projects as per the Capital Works Annual Plan (“the Plan”) through the Solomon Power Project Manual.

The role reports to Manager Projects. It is a two year fixed term role and the incumbent will ensure;

  • Efficient and effective project management and timely delivery of an assigned project
  • A skilled, safe and compliant department
  • Resource management effectively implemented
  • A healthy, safe and OHS compliant Solomon Power
  • Environmental protection is prioritized at all times
  • Sol Power image upheld and values demonstrated at all times

Qualification/Experience: Electrical Engineering Degree

  • At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the Project Management for delivery of projects for electricity utilities
  • Superior communications skills, verbal and writing – putting together complex documents, writing reports and instructions, providing feedback, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage resources, doing budgets, managing spend against budges, reporting and managing variances
  • Clear understanding of the project lifecycle process and the requirements to ensure the delivery of successful projects and actively drive projects to successful completion.
