Reporting Accountant

 

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority trading as Solomon Power invites applications from qualified individuals for Reporting Accountant position.  The Reporting Accountant undertakes data analysis, management of financial accounts and reporting to ensure that finance related data that are essential for finance and other related reports are accurate, reports are prepared on a timely basis, financial risks are identified so mitigating factors that can be developed.

The role reports to the Manager Finance, Solomon Power. It is a full-time role and the incumbent will ensure:

  • Effective management of financial accounts and reporting
  • Risk effectively managed and reported
  • A healthy, safe and OHS compliant Solomon Power
  • Environmental protection is prioritized at all times
  • Organizational Values promoted and demonstrated at all times

Qualification/Experience: Degree in Accounting

  • Proven computer skills and use of applications and systems with advance knowledge and application of EXCEL and accounting packages
  • Knowledge of Solomon Islands legislation especially the Income Tax Act, Electricity Act & the State-Owned Enterprises Act
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and how they relate to Solomon Power
  • Excellent command of English (written and oral)

Solomon Power is a vertically integrated state-owned enterprise that owns, maintains and operates the national electricity grid in the Solomon Islands. They are currently experiencing an exciting time of capital infrastructure development, network expansion and transformational change, undertaking a very ambitious capital works program to build a world-class electricity network model that allows them to better service their customers and future proof Solomon Power’s network, despite challenges being presented by the worldwide Covid 19 pandemic.

 ABOUT THE ROLE

 Reporting to the Solomon Power Board of Directors through the Board Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer leads and directs the development, implementation and ongoing review of the strategic direction, operations, people and resources of the organisation; and ensures Solomon Power delivers on its vision, mission and objectives in accordance with laws of the Solomon Islands, Solomon Power’s Strategic Plan and its values, with the support of a highly professional, experienced and motivated team. (This role fills the position of ‘General Manager’ for the purposes of the Electricity Act).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The candidate must have extensive leadership and strategic management experience with a proven record of achievements at a senior executive level to advance business performance, growth, innovation and partnership with stakeholders.

The candidate will also have to be an astute strategic thinker, possessing excellent interpersonal skills and able to articulate and progress Solomon Power’s strategic agenda and values,
