Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) now trading as Solomon Power is a vertically integrated state owned enterprise that owns, maintains & operates the national electricity grid in the Solomon Islands. We’re currently experiencing an exciting time of capital infrastructure development, network expansion & transformational change.

Reporting to the Solomon Power Chief Executive Officer; this role is a member of Solomon Power’s Executive team & leads the development & implementation of strategic management policies & approaches; internal service delivery; & contributes to business performance, policy setting; & decision implementation.

Success in this role will be evident when internal service requirements are met effectively, efficiently & ethically. Continuous review and roll out of necessary policies & approaches will contribute to success and the GM Corporate Services will leverage off the expertise of direct reports & team members in undertaking functional tasks:

  • Human Resources – talent, performance & employee engagement management, workforce & succession planning, training & development, employee relations, influencing culture & behaviour through policies & values
  • Business Performance – commercially focussed legal advice & corporate risk management
  • Heath Safety Security & Environment – occupational health, safety, security & environment; oversight over polices, approaches and reporting; managing investigations, managing the implementation & review of the Safety Manual, managing & promoting a culture of safety; & security & environmental awareness
  • Land & buildings – employee housing, properties & office buildings; land acquisition, leases, & easements

Success in this role will result from astute leadership, having commercial acumen, leading & managing diverse teams; establishing, maintaining & advocating policies; monitoring & accounting use of resources; & strategic human resources management. The GM Corporate Services will leverage off the expertise of teams within the Division: (1) HR & Administration (2) Health, Safety, Security & Environment (which includes training & development; & fleet management (3) L& & Buildings (4) Business Performance (which includes legal advice, contracts & insurance)

Tertiary qualifications in human resources management, administration or equivalent is necessary; with post graduate qualifications in management desirable. At least 10 years of broad leadership & strategic management experience is required where one is managing business objectives, goals & priorities at a senior management level; advancing business performance, growth, innovation; experience with managing & partnering with key stakeholders including employee representatives, negotiation & agreement experience is necessary. Superior experience in developing & delivering business & team KRAs & delivery with high quality service to internal customers is sought. Superior technical competence in one of the leading service provisions (Human Resources, Business Performance, Legal & Contracts, or Administration) is necessary & leading & managing diverse team of service providers is required.

We’re currently experiencing an exciting time of capital infrastructure development, network expansion and transformational change, undertaking SBD $1bn capital works program to build a world-class electricity network model that allows us to better service our customers and future proof Solomon Power’s network.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Solomon Power; this role is a member of its executive management team and is primarily responsible for leadership and the efficient and effective management of the Capital Works division, its annual plan and deliverables through the Solomon Power Project Manual. The person will have a superior understanding of project lifecycle processes and is the subject matter expert on project management, driving for the successful completion of projects. The GM Capital Works leads the Capital Works Division, leading, coaching and mentoring direct reports and project managers, seeks project implementation improvements, and establishing and maintaining clear lines of communication with key stakeholders of the projects; undertaking regular inspections of each project’s progress and providing regular reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Success in this role will materialise from effective leadership; leading and managing efficient delivery of projects, from establishing, maintaining and advocating the use of relevant policies and monitoring and accounting for use of resources. The GM Capital Works will leverage off the expertise of direct reports and team members as per these three functional areas within the Division: (1) Major Projects (2) Minor Projects (3) Project Management Office.

The candidate must have at least 10 years’ experience in the design and supervision of construction of power systems (generation and networks). Tertiary qualifications in engineering is necessary preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; with professional qualifications in project management and contract management.
