The Solar PV project will be funded by ADB and United Arab Emirates. Negotiations are currently undertaken with SDA Mission to acquire land south of the Lungga power station for a solar farm that will be connected to the SIEA grid. This is an environmently freindly venture that will assist SIEA reduce its reliance on burning of fossil fuel through diesel generators. An agreement had been signed by the government with UAE for the funding of this project.

Feasibility studies done on the project has found its viability and the high potential for solar farming in the country.
