Primary Objectives

The General Manager Corporate Services is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Corporate Services Division and delivery of its services, its annual work plan and associated budget. The incumbent will lead in particular the Human Resources, Legal, Health Safety Security

& Environment, Fleet, Lands, Buildings, Business Administration, Learning Services, Recruitment and Insurance functions. The incumbent will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

The following key result areas are expected to be achieved when undertaking the duties of the position:

  • Solomon Power’s strategic goals supported and delivered.
  • Effective leadership of the Corporate Services Division.
  • Strategic Human Resources Management (HRM) for Solomon Power.
  • Fully compliant Corporate Services Division.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Leadership.
  • Fleet, lands, buildings and insurance regime managed efficiently and effectively.
  • Proactive and effective management of staff unions/associations.
  • Maintaining high standard of service quality.
  • Teamwork and cooperation that delivers effective and efficient operations
  • Solomon Power’s organisational values and standards promoted and upheld at all times.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in administration, Management and/or Human Resources Management.
  • Desired: Masters’ Degree in Business Administration and or Management.

Work Experiences

  • Broad leadership and strategic management experience with a proven record of managing business objectives, goals and priorities at a senior management level to advance business performance, growth and innovation.
  • Proven experience with managing and partnering with key stakeholders including employee representatives; negotiation and agreement experience necessary.
  • Sound knowledge and experience to deliver key accountabilities and superior performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering business and team KRAs.
  • Proven track record of high-quality service provision to customers.
  • Superior technical competence on one of the leading service provisions (Human Resources, Business Performance, Legal and Contracts, Administration, Project Management).
  • Experience in leading and managing a diverse base of service providers in the professional services area.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, manage, motivate, train and develop an effective team and team members.
  • Appreciation of diverse employee demographics and local cultural underpinnings.
  • Good working knowledge of the utility industry or large corporate organisations, the business model and the key stakeholders; employee relations, talent management, performance management, workforce and succession planning.

  • Effective and efficient management of metering department.

  • Occupational Health and Safety leadership.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business and Management or Commerce
  • Desired: Masters’ Degree in Business Administration, Business and Management

Work Experiences

  • Significant experience in developing and implementing innovative approaches to Customer Services.
  • Proven experience in meeting and exceeding the organisation’s strategic goals.
  • Some knowledge in Finance.
  • Ability to lead and supervise subordinates.
  • Proven track record of high-quality service proposition to customers.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering business and team KRAs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to provide technical advice and expertise.
  • Experience in managing a diverse base of service providers in the professional services area.
  • Proven track record of developing staff professionally.
