Solomon Islands Electricity Authority now trading as Solomon Power (“Solomon Power”) seeks applications from qualified candidates for its Chief Executive Officer position.

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) now trading as Solomon Power is a vertically integrated state owned enterprise that owns, maintains and operates the national electricity grid in the Solomon Islands. We’re currently experiencing an exciting time of capital infrastructure development, network expansion and transformational change, undertaking SBD $1bn capital works program to build a world-class electricity network model that allows us to better service our customers and future proof Solomon Power’s network.

Reporting to the Chairman of the Solomon Power Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer leads and directs the development, implementation and ongoing review of the strategic direction, operations, people and resources of the organisation; and ensures Solomon Power delivers on its vision, mission and objectives in accordance with laws of the Solomon Islands, Solomon Power’s Strategic Plan and its values.

This position would suit a candidate with exceptional leadership skills coupled with astute business acumen, self-reliant, motivated and resilient with the capacity to be highly influential with stakeholders.

The candidate must have extensive leadership and strategic management experience with a proven record of achievements at a senior executive level to advance business performance, growth, innovation and partnership with stakeholders.

The candidate will also have at least 10 years’ experience attained at senior managerial level within the electricity utility. Professional qualifications should include post graduate qualifications in management, and tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering. The candidate should also be an astute strategic thinker, possessing excellent interpersonal skills and able to articulate and progress Solomon Power’s strategic agenda and values.

Some desirable attributes are strong negotiation skills especially in the sphere of power purchase agreements and strong communication skills. It is also desirable that the candidate is a member of relevant professional bodies/institutions.
